Ten years ago, Land Rights Now was founded to amplify the voices of Indigenous Peoples and local communities, build collective power, and advocate to secure land rights worldwide. Today, more than 600 organisations stand behind that purpose together.
As we mark this milestone, we are proud to welcome Namati as a new co-convenor of Land Rights Now. Namati has spent over a decade walking with communities to know, use, and shape the law. Namati also convenes the Grassroots Justice Network – a global community of 20,000 members representing over 4,600 organizations from 189 countries.
As co-convenor, Namati joins Oxfam and the International Land Coalition in shared leadership of our movement, bringing justice defenders and community reach to everything we do together.
Our commitment for the next ten years remains clear: to stand alongside grassroots organisations, land defenders, community advocates, and the Indigenous Peoples and local communities at the heart of this movement. Ten years of impact have shown us what is possible when we act together, and that is exactly what drives us forward. We are more determined than ever to turn that commitment into lasting change on the ground.

In the coming weeks, we will be taking you on a journey through ten years of Land Rights Now. The communities we have stood with, the legal victories won, the policies changed, and the landscapes protected. From landmark legislation in Liberia to courtroom victories in Paraguay, these are stories of real people defending their rights, and they deserve to be told.

The next ten years will demand even more from all of us. At a time when democratic and civic spaces are shrinking, and environmental defenders face growing threats, a united and legally empowered movement matters now more than ever.
Thank you for being part of this journey. We are glad to step into this next chapter together.
