Land Rights Now is a campaign formed by Oxfam, International Land Coalition, and Rights and Resources Initiative, and open to all organizations and communities that endorse its goal Land Rights Now respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This Notice explains when and how we collect your personal data when you use our website, and the rights you have over your own information.

Confidential

We feel strongly about privacy – particularly in confidential matters. Personal data acquired through Land Rights Now is processed and controlled solely by Oxfam. Your data are treated confidentially. This means that we will not sell or disclose your personal data to third parties. Our employees, partner organizations, and third parties whose services we engage, are under an obligation to respect the confidentiality of personal data.

Personal data
There are a number of areas on our website where you may provide personal data to Land Rights Now, including when you:

  • register for Land Rights Now email updates
  • sign a Land Rights Now petition
  • register to be involved in our campaigns

The information we collect will depend on the nature of your action but may include name, email address, telephone number, country and language preference.

In the case of a petition action, in no instance will we use your data for any purpose besides sending your name to the government or company we are targeting in the campaign. The campaign target will receive your name and your email address. This makes it possible for the campaign target to send you a reply, if applicable.

When using our site, you have the ability to link through to certain social media sites such as Facebook, Tumblr, or Twitter. Depending on your settings, and the privacy policies of these social media and messaging services, we may receive or match your personal data with these sites to show Land Rights Now content while these services are being used. We will only contact you for marketing purposes (for example keep you up to date on our work based on your previous responses to our campaigns, or let you know of ways in which you can support that work) where we have your consent.

Where you provide your consent to such communications, you can withdraw consent or change your preferences at any time by clicking the unsubscribe button on any marketing communication. MailChimp

MailChimp is used for sending Land Rights Now newsletters and campaign emails. MailChimp is a program for sending out emails to large groups of recipients. Land Rights Now uses it to send the newsletters and campaign emails to subscribers. MailChimp has updated its tool to be compliant with the new GDPR laws (the European privacy regulation on personal data protection). By participating in our campaign, you accept our privacy statement and give your consent to Land Rights Now to collect, store and process your information in the manners described above and for the purposes for which you have stated a preference.
