The illustrated story: SAMBILOG: THE FIGHT FOR LAND RIGHTS IN THE PHILIPPINES, is inspired by the real story of Malagyin and the resistance against corporate land grabs, is a testament to the courage of communities defending their homes, culture, and future. Through storytelling Land Rights Now, PAKISAMA, ILC Asia and the Bugsuk Movement, aim to amplify the voices of story of an island in the Philippines facing injustice and show how they are resisting it.
They say it’s a better life elsewhere… but why would they want us to leave our home? There is so much memory here, my grandad is buried here, together with his ancestors.
The story has been published in four languages, including two local languages, which community members translated.
